April 28. Thanks Peter for the info, update and intel.
I have no clue what other track (owners/operators) know about this
Bill and/or whether or not its on their radar screen or not. Chances
are, . . . if they are not members of the MMA, AMA, NETRA, or Power
Sports Industrial Council, . . . they don't know.
As I say often, and I'd be certain these other groups know, . .
. 'if you're not doing politics, . . . politics is doing you."
NOTE - there is NO Public HEARING on May 1. I was incorrect about
that.
The Senate and House "extended" the time for the Transportation
Committee to 'report out' their recommendations on HB 3592 to May
1st.
On that date, . . . that Committee will either vote the HB 3592
out with a 'favorable, ought to pass' recommendation; or, an "unfavorable,
ought NOT to pass' recommendation; refer it to 'study; ' or, amend
it in some manner/fashion to vote it out with a favorable recommendation.
Since the Bill Sponsor, Rep. Matthew Patrick from the Cape (Falmouth,
Mashpee, Bourne areas) is not on the Committee, . . . and we are
meeting with him tomorrow (Tuesday), at this point in time, I would
recommend you recommend those on your list interested in killing
this Bill ('refer to study' or 'ought not to pass') . . . .to contact
members of the Joint Committee on Transportation, (below) . . .
respectfully letting their feelings about this Bill be known to
those Committee members:

APRIL 18 MOTOTOWN CLOSED! I recieved a call Tuesday the
15th from Tommy D, the owner of Mototown informing me he was closing
immediatley until October. No further information was available.
I attempted to have Tommy payout the jackets and trophies with no
avail. Myself and the employees had no idea on Sunday the 13th races
what was happening. I want to remind everyone that Sideways Promotions
wasn't in charge of the series. I was an employee of Mototown to
direct the days events. I worked very hard to treat all the riders
fairly and in return you riders put on some fantastic racing in
what was the premire indoor motorsports facility in the world
WVR Work party Sunday April 20 at 10:00 am Finish cleaning

Things to keep in mind when spectating or racing at Mototown.
The huge grandstands overlook the track this year.
Dress warm, there is heat but in keeping clean air it’s cool.
Besides the 3 food chains in the complex, beer is now served.
Ear plugs are for sale in the bike shop.
Racers park outside and pit inside. A wagon is recommended.
For any questions call Pete 978-874-1732.

Feb 7
To speed up the day at Mototown we all agreed with 99%
percent of the karters being local that they will run their practice
starting about 8:30 while the large numbers of bikes and quads are
signing up and moving in. We will run our riders meeting at 9:45
and start practice as close to 10 am as we can. This will save time
for everyone. We also are working on moving the karts to racing
the same day as the mini sprints, from 9 to 12. We never anticipated
250 entries so we are adjusting the program.
Practice has been an issue we are working on. If riders would be
fair and honest it would make it easier on everyone. I’m looking
for 2 people to work just practice with Mary. I believe I can take
care of your pit pass. Email me direct peterg@verizon.net
Thank you for everyones support!

Everything is in place for the first race at Mototown USA
Dec 30. We are meeting at mototown Saturday Dec 29 at 5 to install
the plywood billboards. We need help to make this short work. please
contact Pete at 978-807-8515 if you can help. Please note the signup
times so that we can work together to make this 4 race series a
success. Mototown has added several Kart classes which will be incorporated
into the bike / quad program. Until we see what the kart turnout
is we have no idea what to expect. Sideways Promotions is not sanctioning
these races, Mototown has hired a few Sideways officials for the
flat track events. All of us at Mototown want to thank all the racers,
their families and all the dirt track fans for making this happen.
A couple of quotes from riders atr practice. "Riding my dirt

Nov 6 - Halloweena x3 Story / MOTOTOWN Updates
Halloweena X 3 was a screaming success despite battling the elements
the last 2 years! The Sunday rain date meant eliminating the GRASSAPASS
karts but the day had lots to offer including great hot food and
drinks by the Winchendon Kiwanis. The swap meet always has a very
uniqueness to it. No used harley p cams but an array of new and
old dirt track parts plus all kinds of motorcycle dirt and street
stuff. Cool bike included an original 1958 Sportster along with
a 1974 Moto-Morini dirt tracker and Pete Hallidays 1974 250 Montesa
with the original #1 plate from winning the NESTA 250 Championship
in 1975. The racing was fabulous as the track was the perfect moisture.
We had a young girl in a kart trying dirt for the first time knock
the nose off her kart. She never let off the throttle even as she
drove over it! The battle between Jon Lutzen and Joe Picardi was
fierce. Joe almost highsided coming out of turn 2 allowing Jon to
gain just enough to make a pass coming out of turn 4 for the win.
As usual Team Bettencourt’s took home the bulk of the money
with win’s in both Pro short track and TT by Asa Irish. The
Bay State Harley Pullers put on an exhibition with both 2 and 3
wheel bikes against the weight transfer sled. The Thunder Clownz
TT was the last race of the season. This crowd pleasing assortment
of adults dressed up on small 4 strokes is a wild display of motorcycle
mahem with a little WWF and adult stupidity. The winner is not always
the fastest but usually awarded on most bizarre behavior and/or
costume. With all the rain we had last week a short cut was found
using a water crossing. The sight of 10 drowned clownz sloshing
thru the mud, cutting the course was a perfect ending for Halloweena
X 3! Bucky Boy has all the pictures up at www.firstplacephoto.com
What’s in store for WVR in 08? We are regrading part of the
pit bike mx track to make a full blown TT course for mini’s
to open pro. There will be a small section of whoops and jumps for
the Wednesday night practices. Saturday night points races for the
oval and TT are in the works. A practice day with an Open House
/ Swap Meet free to the public in April. Our always popular youth
dirt track school plus a Ken Coolbeth Cross Training school will
happen. Bill Haas is running certified dirt bike and ATV classes.
I already got sponsorship calls regarding The 3rd Annual Aaron Creamer
Memorial Short track, we will raise $3500 in 08! Halloweena x 4
will be more fun and crazy than ever as the haunting time approaches.
Mototown goes BIG. A new ¼ mile oval is built using the
biggest part of the building. I was down there last week working
on a winter schedule. For a couple of pictures go to www.mototownusa.com

STRONG TURNOUT OF FLAT TRACK MOTORCYCLE RIDERS FOR THE 4TH ANNUAL
CIRCUS OF DIRT AT THE BROCKTON FAIRGROUNDS.
BROCKTON, MA. Perfect weather for the 4th Annual Circus of Dirt
at the Brockton Fairgrounds resulted in a strong turnout of entries
for the event which was sanctioned by the AMA and the New England
Dirt Track Series over the weekend. When it was all over local and
New England riders held their own against New York and Pennsylvania
riders in nine out of eleven classes. The dry weather, too dry in
fact, also resulted in several breaks in between qualifying heats
and the features for the venue's water tanker and grooming equipment
to work on the track surface in an effort to keep the dust down
to a minimum.
Among the winners were Jason Pacheco of Taunton who went home with
the Vintage Amature winners trophy while Carver's Asa Irish did
the same thing in the Vintage Expert. Plymouth's Brian McKenna ended
the afternoon with another win in the the 250 Pro main event over
Brent Laskawa of Londonderry, NH. The 250 Amateur feature saw first
place go to David Berryman of Plymouth who managed to hold off Kyle
O’Connor from Middleboro.
Troy Estabrook of Litchfield, NH managed to take both the Sportsman
and the Open Pro features aboard his Honda machine. In the process
of all that he beat invader Dennis Flynn of Hopewell Jct., NY in
the Sportsman and Adam Carpinello of E. Greenbush, NY in the Open
Pro classes. Another Granite State rider Harland Hildebrand of Milford,
NH bested Samantha Slingerland of Hudson, NH and Bobby Bettencourt
of W. Bridgewater in the 65 cc event.
In between the motorcycle action a trio of fearsome looking Monster
Trucks entertained the packed grandstands with the Connecticut based
"Thrasher", "Backdraft" and the "Eradicator"
jumped over dirt and crushed junk cars in the infield much to the
delight of the fans.

After Brockton we have 2 points races left, Oct 6 jr/7 wvr. The
Halloweena X 3 is not a points race. WVR really needs a great turnout
at the last 2 races and the turkey raffle to pay the bills all winter.
We will have thanksgiving basket (worth$100+) tickets for sale starting
oct 6. $1 each or 6 for $5. The Turkey raffle is Nov 3 at the Westminster
VFW.
Oct 13 the race in ny is cancelled so I moved the club cookout from
Sunday to Saturday. Riding from 1-6 or so and we’ll eat at
4:30. Riding is $10 for members and $20 for non. The Club will supply
the beef and everyone should bring a dish.
I really would like 1 workday to spruce some things up before the
Halloweena X 3. Not sure if early the 13th, Sunday the hangover
14th or Sunday morning the 21 would work. I know I pushed pretty
hard this season, especially at wvr. The club is regaining it’s
momentum which is great! With more people coming to watch we need
to improve our amenities for both spectators and riders.
Oct 27 Halloweena X 3 will be blast! A swap meet and vintage bike
display featuring some very unique old bikes and riders starts at
10 till ?. Racing lawnmowers will have an exhibition from 1:30 -2.
The Bay State Harley Pullers are doing an exhibition from 2-3. Flat
track motorcycle and kart oval racing starts at 3 followed by flat
track TT racing (dirt road course) for youth and big bikes. Pit

2007 Aaron Creamer Memorial Short Track to Benefit Winchendon Youth
Recreation
I met Aaron Creamer and his family in 1988. It was about a year
after my diving accident which paralyzed me from the chest down.
I had raced motorcycles for 14 years and cars for 5 before my accident
plus back in the late 70’s I promoted ice races for the city
of Gardner’s Winter Carnival. I was meeting with the family
to work on bringing motorcycle dirt track back to New England. The
old Bryar Motorsport Park in Loudon was sold and New Hampshire International
Speedway was being built. Our only race track in New England was
now a parking lot. The Creamer family along with many others now
had to travel to either Schnectady or Binghampton N.Y. to race.
A track was located in Canaan N.H. and a 3 race deal was struck.
While not financially successful it was emotionally a success for
everyone. Dirt track was back in New England! Sideways Promotions
and The New England Dirt Track Series was started in 1989. At that
time, Aaron was riding 60’s and 80’s. The 2 families
formed a bond that continues to this day. We spent countless hours
together over the years working on bikes, traveling to races, practicing
at Wachusett Valley. During those years as Aaron went from a child
to a boy to a man, all he ever wanted to do was be a Professional
Racer. Not a guy who had a part time job and raced but a full time
Pro. He accomplished his goal in 03. Aaron was following the AMA
National circuit! For awhile he traveled alone because his hectic
schedule didn’t fit in with friends work. He did everything
on the bike and gained the respect of a huge following from around
the country. He never forgot his roots, coming home as often as
he could to see friends and family. He would race locally and do
riding schools for kids like he had been for years.
Aaron died Aug 8, 2004 racing in Sturgis South Dakota. His love
of life, friends and family didn’t make it any easier but
it was solace that he went doing what he loved. He once said, “If
I die racing, I know I’ll die happy.” It’s his
infectious spirit that literally affected thousands and thousands
of people around the world. There are other races named in his honor.
Aaron was a Leominster boy and along with many other families put
a lot of sweat equity building Wachusett Valley Riders. The match
of Aaron continuing to help local kids and be remembered was perfect.
Last year due to nasty weather early we only were able to donate
$260. My goal is to donate $3000 after expenses. Every dime raised
either pays a bill or is donated. WVR and it’s club members
do not make any profit what so ever.
There are several ways to be involved. To help offset the costs
Wachusett Valley Riders Club is selling sponsorships, $25, $50 and
$100 levels. $25 gets your name in the program, $50 gets you in
the program and a Aaron Creamer trophy, $100 gets everything plus
a banner at the races. I would love to make a $3000 donation to
the youth program this year. Wachusett Valley Riders Club Rt 12,
Winchendon MA. Sunday August 26, Practice 12, races 1:30. Adults
$10 kids under 16 free after 1:30. To be a sponsor or contact me

Sideways Promotions / Wachusett Valley Riders Club Summer Newsletter
The race you have been waiting for, we have moved our indoor track
to the
outside dirt . Same rules same classes in front of the Grandstands
during
the Orange County Fair. Motorcycles and Quads. Pros, Experts, Amateurs.
Friday July 27, 2007 Gates open at 3pm, Practice at 5:30pm, Racing
at 7pm.
For information call O.C. Fair 845-343-4826
The race originally scheduled at WVR for Aug 4 has been moved back
to Sunday
July 29. Originally I was going to make it the day after The Cheshire
Fair
Aug 3. After I was assured we were set, the Fair backed out. The
race July
29 will feature a Thunder Clownz TT race. I’m doing filming
for a special
project so….. no more taping toilet paper or caution tape
to your body.
There will be a Clownz inspector, be silly or stay locked in the
clown car!
I talked to Bucky Thunder, he is looking for all the free Barbie
battery
cars/motorcycles he can get. I don’t know what for, might
be a little Miss
Bucket on the way! The Northampton and Brockton short track races
were a
blast! Both Fairgrounds were happy and the Thunder Clownz were a
hit.
Aug 4 there is a ½ mile Cushion in Brome, Quebec. It’s
a short distance over
the Vermont border. (RT 89) When I went to Ayers Cliff During Laconia
there
were kids on 50’s, 65 and 85’s plus amateur and pro
classes. Buddy Ford does
a great job of putting on races. He is the promoter of the AMA National
race
September 15 in Monticello. There will some amateur classes run
the 15th.
Regardless if you are riding or not WE as dirt track fans and riders
NEED to
support this race. After the Syracuse fiasco Buddy Ford has a tough
road to
making this successful. Buddy consulted different people on our
thoughts
before deciding. If we don’t get enough people to support
it, no one will
attempt another National in the northeast for a while. It would
affect
pro-sport and riders looking to turn pro at 16 down the road. www.cmrc.com
<http://www.cmrc.com/>
WVR is slowly coming back to life, 83 entries at the last race.
I know the
99db rule has hurt the club but it’s either comply or end
up shutdown. Dave
Bettencourt has a bunch of street bike mufflers for $10 each with
the
proceeds going to WVR. TL 1000’s, GSXR’s all flow plenty
for even a Rotax.
Some bolt on or might need an adapter and bracket. A 1/5th mile
track
doesn’t need 65 horsepower. We have 5 races left at WVR. That
leaves 4
races, practices and 1 turkey raffle to make enough money to get
through the
winter. I’ve been working with a local shop allowing a practice
day to get
new kids involved. It has been working well and I’m going
to visit shops in
a 1 hour radius. Some riders that live to far from WVR to justify
a yearly
membership, I have solved that. $20 will get you a 1 day pass for
practice.
Bill Haas will be certified MSF Dirt Bike and SVI ATV instructor
working out
of WVR.We will have a youth school, our main instructor is laid
up. I so much want WVR to be financially sufficient. There are some
things in the works that should make it easier. WVR’s Halloweena
X3 OCT 27
is going to have more racing, a bigger swap meet, vintage bike concourse
show, custom bicycles and more mayhem. Daytime short track/TT, late
afternoon pit bike mx and Thunder Clownz racing. The pit bike craze
seems to
be fading so how about 4 strokes 50-70-80-90/100/150 TT races? Will
the NY
crew support it?
Aug 26 is our 2nd Annual Aaron Creamer Memorial Short Track. All
the
proceeds go to The Winchendon Youth Recreation Program. Because
of weather
and poor turnout last year WVR donated $260. My goal this year is
$3000.
It’s a realistic number if we work together. I’m selling
$25, $50 and $100
sponsorships to local businesses and anyone that wants to be involved.
Aug 4
is the Winchendon Kiwanis Club annual Chili Cookoff. If someone
wants to
make the chili WVR will pay the entry and setup booth. We entered
years
ago with our Checkered Flag Chili getting 2nd best people choice.
Our motto, “Chili so hot you need a special permit.”
That was
during our fight with the town over a special racing permit we were
going
for.
I have Sideways Promotions 2007 patron stickers for sale. Several
people
that don’t race and want to be involved have jumped on board.
For $25 you
get the 5 ½ x 8 ½ decal, newsletter and your name
with a link to your
business on my website. The decals are designed so every year you
overlap
them leaving the year exposed.
I really struggled this spring getting a newsletter and schedules
out. I
didn’t have the money for copies and postage. One of the things
I want
riders chasing points to know is that there are 2 throw aways on
points.
We’ll take the best 12 out of 14 races. Everyones lives are
extremely busy
and losing a championship because you have to attend a funeral,
wedding or
other function is wrong. I’m hoping this improves the last
race attendance
as riders try to move up a spot or 2. The last race for years has
always
been very poorly attended. We’ll see how it works!
Thank you for your support, Pete

JUNE 5
MOTOTOWN race scheduled for Saturday June 9 has
been postponed.

Sideways Promotions / WVR June Newsletter
The MOTOTOWN races were very exciting and we learned the workings
of a new facility. The downside was it wasn’t a financial
success. I need a full field of bikes and quads. I have a meeting
with them regarding next year. There is serious talk of making it
bigger.
Due to a difference in scheduling The June 2 race for Jolly Rogers
is cancelled and moved to June 9. June 3 is an open practice at
WVR 12-5. JR needs a mx crowd to supplement the dirt track races.
June 2nd was a scheduled weekend off for Marco. We apologize for
any inconveinance. The youth school will be rescheduled till after
the Amateur Grands. Mototown is running Saturday June 9th also.
Pre-Entry at www.mototown.com
Rochester has some class structure changes due to the cancellation
of the AMA National June 16 in Davenport Iowa. The day program has
signup at 8am, and practice at 9:30. We need to be done no later
than 3 so we can gearup for the night program which starts at 5
for practice. All NEDTS classes will be run during the day. This
is a Pro show that must be geared to the spectator. We can and will
adjust classes and schedule IF need be. The night program will consist
of a Twins Pro class. Riders must posses a AMA Pro-Sport or better
license. Canadian riders must posses a Canadian Pro license. A 450
Pro class, same requirements. A licensed Pro-Sport class, 85cc Youth
and Vintage. Twins riders WILL NOT be able to ride their twins bikes
during the day programs! I could have combined the Pro-Sports with
the Pro’s but I want to give you rider’s the glory,
points and money you deserve. This is part of a 3 race USA/Canada
Series. June 16/17 there is a short track and ½ mile just
over the Vermont border. All classes, $5000 canadian pro purse each
day. I will have AMA entry forms available at JR the 9th. It will
speed up a busy day by pre-entering. Bring your AMA cards the 9th
to Jolly Rogers. This is a make or break year. If I don’t
get enough spectators to make good money I’m dropping the
Pro’s and trying a Vintage Show in 08. Worse case of losing
a pile of money is WVR is gone and I’ll do 3 or 4 Fair Short
Tracks and have fun!
The Youth School scheduled for WVR June 9th will be rescheduled
some time later in July. The Kenny Coolbeth School is tentatively
set for July 23-24 at WVR.
Northampton Ma is a 200’ x 300’ cushion short track
as part of a Monster Truck/Show n’ Shine weekend. The race
is June 23, practice at 10, races 11. I will be running all NEDTS
classes and Youth Quads. This is a great opportunity for us. The
Fairgrounds has a nice indoor dirt arena and is maybe thinking about
us as a attraction during their Fair in 2008. The Monster Truck
owner and show Promoter is also interested in us getting together
at other Fairgrounds in New England. Bucky Thunder will be in the
House and THUNDER CLOWNZ will be run. No costume, no ride! I’M
not clowning around!! Lol FREE entry for THUNDER CLOWNZ as long
as you pay to ride another class.
The Brockton Short Track is during the Fair with admission only
$10 A CAR! Another fun filled night Sunday July 1. Gates open at
2, practice at 4:30, races at 5:30. There is a intermission show
also. Due to past experience only vehicles with a motorcycle in
them will be allowed in the pits. I will be running all NEDTS classes
and Youth Quads and after testing maybe full size quads. The track
is about the size of Mototown. The Fairgrounds is very interested
in seeing the response and may make the track bigger in 2008. Bucky
Thunder will be in the House and THUNDER CLOWNZ will be run. No
costume, no ride! I’M not clowning around!! Lol FREE entry
for THUNDER CLOWNZ! As long as you pay to ride another class.
WVR is not working. The last race we had 59 entries between dirt
track, pit bike mx, Karts and TT classes. When a bunch of us started
WVR 11 years ago times were a lot simpler. Everyone had more free
time. We routinely got 115 entries of just dirt trackers. I know
the 99db thing has hurt but it’s either keep quiet or lose
our permit. I’m working on alternatives to pay the bills.
I’ve opened 1 day practice to non members, $20 Wednesday night’s
or $25 on weekends when I can be there to supervise. It’s
open for all the 3 tracks. If we get enough Wednesday interest we’ll
do the oval Wednesday and the MX/TT knobbys vehicles Thursday. Please
tell your buddies.
I have 2007 Sideways Promotions Patron stickers available. It’s
about a 10” sticker with “I Support The Sport”
with the year. I’ll have your name and a link to your business
or website if applicable on my website. I plan on making them every
year. It’s a way to help me out AND show your pride whether
you ride or spectate! Cost is $25 each.

MOTOTOWN APRIL 28
Coolbeth And Stay win, Bastek and Thibeault sweep the series.
The King of Cool kept his Mototown USA winning streak alive taking
first in 2 classes and promptly donated his $300 Premier Class winnings
to AJ Stay. AJ was in a very serious car accident 5 days before
the race. The Stay family has been a fixture in dirt track for years
not only racing but great ambassadors for the sport. A pass of the
helmet collected $846 for a total of $1146!
The 2 best things about indoor racing is the action and the fact
I don’t watch the weather channel all week! The action this
month was some of the best so far at Mototown. Leo Vadnais coming
from the 3rd row to win the Senior A was impressive. His outside
line was working great gaining about 6 feet a lap on leader Jerry
Dinnen to win by a wheel at the Checkered. Another impressive performance
was put in by Gary, Hoppa, Lachance. He put his XR 750 Harley in
the Open Premier main finishing 8th and was headed to a podium finish
in the Senior A when he tangled with Smilin’ Dean Sullivan
taking them both out of contention on lap 11. Watching Hoppa wrestle
that Harley-Davidson around the 1/10 mile oval is worth the price
of admission not to mention that it rattles the dust out of the
rafters! While we are talking about Harley’s, The Sideways
Promotions / Sheldon’s H-D Buell Blast scored a heat win in
the Sportsman class with James Rispoli at the controls. James first
time on the bike was a success and a bad start along with a lapper
held him to third in the Main. Look for James to ride the Blast
at select events during the year. The team has a couple of big goals
in mind for later in the season and is looking for some help to
sponsor a ½ mile motor. www.sidewayspromo.com
The Open Premier class got an added bonus from Dave Bettencourt
and Jane Wood in the form of $600 making a total of $1400. It only
took Kenny 1 lap to negate the holeshot of David Casey in the Open
Pro. While Kenny disappeared the racing behind was hot and heavy.
The older guys of Ray Legary and Pete McGirr were coming thru the
pack, Ray working the inside and Pete using the outside. They ran
out of laps with Bob Weiss 2nd and Ray on his wheel for 3rd. Another
New Yorker Mike Radley was 4th and Pete was 5th. 2nd to 5th could
have been covered by a blanket as they all crossed the line together.
There is a couple of riders that went 3 for 3 in their class. Greg
Bastek put his immaculate XL 350 Honda in first again in the Vintage
class while Alex Thibeault smoked the 85cc again.
It was a great test for this winter. We all learned what we need
to make it a once a month deal starting in November in 2007. I cannot
thank Tommy D and the entire Mototown Staff for giving Dirt track
a chance. They are open all summer for mx and flat track oval practice.

Durham NH Results
Narbone Knocks on Coolbeths door, rollovers and girls gone wild
at
Whittemore
Checkered Flag Productions rolled into Durham New Hampshire Saturday
April 14 between 2 powerful storms. The Pro's led by The King of
Cool Ken Coolbeth put on a awesome display of 6 second laps on the
concrete coke syrup track.
The afternoon show was filled with racing and crashes which took
down amateurs Fred Berryman and his Bettencourt teammate Jason Pacheco
at they worked to become used to the sticky surface. Insane Shane
Narbone riding for North Reading Honda got spit off in his heat
race but shook it off to restart and get a 2nd to The King. Mike
Radley made the trip from N.Y. worthwhile as he finished 3. Bob
Weiss got 4th. Bettencourts's Honda and Jane Wood sponsored the
afternoon show making the riders very happy.
The night program was another Coolbeth affair as he bullied his
way to the front after coming into turn 1 3 rd. Like Kenny said
in his interview, "I just want to race, but I'm also here to
win."
Fred Berryman kept it on 2 wheels to win the Amateur class over
local favorite Bill Paquette from nearby Milton N.H. Bill was a
little
conservative in the evening program as the track was a little inconsistent
to his liking. It goes to show why Ken Coolbeth is AMA #1. He knows
what it takes too get the job done no matter what surface he's racing
on. His mental edge is so confident knowing that whether he's on
his Bettencourt's Honda 450 or his Factory XR 750 Harley-Davidson,
he is on the best, most reliable equipment out there.
The Monster trucks always put on a good show at the Whit. It doesn't
matter if it's Bigfoot making a huge save from almost going over
backwards or Screamin Demon going over, it's a great show. Add in
the 3 stunt street bikes, the RC cars, atv's, pit party and t-shirt
throw makes it must see in 2008.
After the races it's customary to have an autograph signing for
the Monster trucks and Sideways Promotions. Over the years a lot
of things have been signed by the racers. This year James Poole,
his mechanic Jake Savoy and Alex Paquette manned the booth since
they were not 16. Shane stopped by to help out and they signed checkered
flags, sneakers, arms, hands and then 1 girl stopped by lifting
her shirt asking for a signature. The shocked autographers politely
declined. Well the next girl asked about autographing her stomach!
I can say a lot of autographs and schedules were handed out for
Rochester.

INFO UPDATES
The practice at JR for April 22 has been cancelled due to weather
and moved to Sunday April 29 10 - 4 weather permitting.
Sunday April 22 is a rescheduled work day at WVR starting at 10
am. Main goals for Sunday: Clean up fallen trees and brush, Transplant
small trees, finish digging fence post holes and general cleanup.
April 28 is the last Mototown for this spring. Now that we know
the track will hold up I'm adding a few adult quad classes in addition
to the youth classes. Quad signup is 9:30am to 10:45, practice 11.
The motorcycle program sign up is 3 to 4:15, practice at 4:30. I
want to remind everyone we are all still learning about this new
facility and this is testing times and classes for next November.
In order to make it successful it takes 3 things, A good consistent
rider count, spectators and sponsors. I'm confident that working
together we can put that together for next fall. I envision 1 race
a month from November to April.
The Coolbeth school has been cancelled for May. Kenny has a very
busy schedule and we are looking into late July or early August
running a Sunday and Monday.
The Youth flat track school will be 9am June 9 at WVR. It's open
to all kids 150 or smaller. Cost is $45 and includes lunch.
I'm working on another insurance carrier for WVR. I have and will
continue to support the AMA at my bigger events but the bottom line
is going with The Rider Network which Mototown use will save WVR
at least $200 each event and covers the Karts. It's $5 each race
or $35 for the year. WVR has never regained the momentum it had
before it was shut down. At this point every dime counts. To add
to the rider entries at WVR, each race will run all NEDTS classes
plus 3 pit bike classes. A 50cc based class up to 90cc, A 91 to
125cc class and a Open class to 160cc. There will also be a 100/150
TT class age 12+. For all the short tracks we are adding a Beginner
4 stroke
70-90cc class which will allow knobbys. I have been very involved
with dealers to let them know how much we are working with young
kids to get them racing regardless of what bike they are riding.
It is starting to pay off in more riders and families getting involved.
Another thing we are opening WVR for is Youth MX practice. The pit
bike track is great for a 50 or 85cc. We'll start running Wednesday's
and if there is a lot of interest we'll make Thursday's mx day.
Myself and others have committed to making WVR work this year, it's
our home track that has already produced many excellent riders.
It would be a shame to have it go away.

March 24 Mototown Results
WINDSOR, CT. Some 116 flat track motorcycle competitors and an assortment of Go-Karts and Quads, in support races, took to the spacious indoor racecourse at the MotoTown indoor track in the Connecticut Valley last weekend, on Saturday, March 24, for the second time in 2007. In the 250+ Pro event, Empire State invader Matt Weideman of Westerlo, NY showed the New England crowd that he was the top rider in that class by taking the checkered flag first and mastering the well groomed dirt oval track in the process. Shawn Harvey, Jr. of Webster, MA ended up taking the runner-up spot then Terry Finkle of Danbury, CT, Shane Narbone of Tyngsboro, MA, fresh from his respectable finish in the paved road racing events at the Daytona Intl. Speedway last month, and Bryan McKenna of Plymouth rounded out the top five.
Weideman wasn't able to equal his previous feat in the Open Premier race and had to settle for an eighth place with local standout Roger Durkee of Dudley, MA grabbing the checkered flag in that event. Durkee was chased to the finish line by Troy Estabrook of Litchfield, NH while Bryan McKenna pulled of a third in that one. Norwalk, CT's Pete McGirr and Kyle Wideman of Macedon, NY placed fourth and fifth.
The Vintage race was won by Honda rider Greg Basteck of Seymour, CT as he was able to hold off Jason Pacheco of Taunton, MA, also riding a Honda, while Robert Teslof of Ellington CT put his Yamaha machine in third place. In the Open Amature go, Pacheco was vindicated by taking the win in that class while Spencer, MA rider Koby Foley had to settle for second place while keeping Connor Lafrance of Wilton, NY behind him for third place.
A pair of Granite State riders Aaron Johnson of Gilsum, NH and Michael Hackey of Alstead, NH finished one-two in the 250 Amature class event while Asa Irish of Carver, MA crossed the finish line in third place.
The 125 Amature saw Koby Foley of Spencer, MA put his Yamaha in the winner's circle while Kyle O'Connor of Middleboro, MA took his Suzuki to a second place finish. Clifton Park, NY Honda rider Camron Suriano ended his day with a third place in that event. Other support events are covered in the summaries.
The third and final round of the Sideway's Promotions Indoor Flat Track Motorcycle Series and support events will return to MotoTown in Windsor, CT on Saturday, April 28, 2007. For more information check the www.sidewayspromo.com website or check out the facility at www.mototown.com webpages on the internet.
